We are thrilled to present Cinco Puntos/Cinco Estrellas, a solo exhibition by Juliana Bustillo! This marks Bustillo’s first solo show with the gallery, opening on Saturday, March 22, from 6–9 PM.

This painting exhibition traces a historical and cultural journey, beginning with the United Fruit Company in 1920s Honduras, moving through Boyle Heights in the 1990s, and culminating in East Los Angeles during the Y2K era of the early 2000s. Through autoethnography, folk Catholicism, and craft, Cinco Puntos/Cinco Estrellas serves as a visual testament to ancestral resistance.

The title carries layered significance: Cinco Estrellas references the five stars of the Honduran flag, while Cinco Puntos is in reference to the five-point intersection of East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue, Lorena Boulevard, and Indiana Street.

Viewed through a feminine lens and a pocha perspective, the exhibition situates the Honduran diaspora within the dominant Chicano infested rhetoric of East Los Angeles, offering a critique of Chicano nationalism as it solidified in the 1960s.
